Prague Nightlife: Michal Marek Fashion Show or Fantastical Nightmare

Prague Nightlife is not only night clubs, discos, cinema halls, romantic meetings and evening walks. Fashion shows have become part of night entertainment in Prague and notable events in the culture of Prague City.

The Michal Marek brand has become a fashionable Czech brand in a very short time. The designer turned fashion catwalk into a show. And thanks to this approach to the organization of the defile, the latest collection Alternative Future received a wide response. Clothes from this collection adorned the Czech Miss 2018.

The new autumn collection from the brand Michal Marek was also presented as a fashion show. The theme of the collection is Nightmare. The name of the collection is Moth or Můra. It should be noted that the theme of nightmares in the fashion industry has always received a wide response and attracted particular attention. Raf Simons chose a nightmare theme in 2016 for his collection for Calvin Klein (Nightmares and Dreams). The Gucci’s Cyborg collection was also noticed at the Milan Fashion Week at the beginning of this year. Models with horns on their heads were holding in their hands the replicas of their own heads, dragons and real snakes.

Designer Michal Marek presented his own vision of a nightmare theme in Prague. The nightmare in extreme conditions is experienced by an individual, in this case, the designer himself.

The Michal Marek collection was shown at the NYX Hotel Prague. The wall portraits in the hotel lobby seemed to have been specially created for this fashion show.

The steep and winding hotel’s staircase was supposed to increase the alarming and tragic mood of the collection. The models moved along a symbolic road. The road goes somewhere in the infinite. This is a winding and steep staircase, which is difficult to descend, it is easy to fall and break to death.

After overcoming the abyss models come out of the darkness like dark human thoughts. The beast awaits them at the foot of the abyss as a black panther with eyes glowing in the dark.

Under the flashes of photographic lenses and prying eyes, the models’ bodies, dressed in translucent clothes of tulle and chiffon, seem naked. Only the faces covered with masks and makeup. Models are moving among the guests like in a maze. The bodies wriggle, writh, fall in convulsions and heave again. Static poses of the audience are contrasted to convulsions of moving models.

Anxious music, skulls in the hands of models, masks of leather and lace, and poems from Shakespeare. Fashion designer Michal Marek for the second time, after his spring collection Alternative Future, presents a fashion show that looks more like a theater.

The new Michal Marek collection is designed in black and green-black tones. In contrast few white clothes look very impressive. The autumn collection of Michal Marek is emphasized by exquisite accessories such as Freywille jewelery. The models were dressed in spectacular stockings from the company MARILYN. Designer Michal Marek was the author, producer and director of this fashion show.
